Rainforest Biome, Horticulturist - Eden Project

We are seeking two pro-active tropical amenity/botanical professionals to undertake the role of Rainforest Biome, Supervisor and Rainforest Biome, Horticulturist at our world class visitor destination.

Rainforest Biome, Supervisor

We are currently looking to make this high profile appointment to augment our tropical horticultural team within the world’s largest ‘tropical forest’ conservatory that covers four major rainforests of the world, and showcases the best of British horticulture. Ideally applicants will be qualified to at least BSc and/or botanical garden diploma (or hold an equivalent qualification) with proven tropical experience in horticulture or a related field. Candidates will be flexible with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, strong leadership and motivational skills, and the ability to lead and work with a team. Expertise in the maintenance and development of a tropical plant collection and knowledge of plant uses would be particularly advantageous. Proven project management expertise, together with experience of supervision or management of staff is essential. Reporting to the Curator, you will manage a team of staff and daily work programmes, delivering the highest standards of cultivation and maintenance.

Rainforest Biome, Horticulturist

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Horticulturist to join our tropical team responsible for managing and maintaining the plant displays and exhibits in the Rainforest Biome. You will be expected to work to very high standards and have a good eye for detail. An all round knowledge of tropical horticultural skills will be necessary, as well as the ability to develop a specialist under-standing for specific areas of responsibility.

Ideally you will be a qualified to at least Diploma level (or hold an equivalent qualification) with proven experience in tropical horticulture with preferably tropical ecology experience. Machinery competence and pesticide application, Pa1 and Pa6 qualifications would be an advantage. You will need to be a team player with good communication skills and a pro-active approach. Knowledge of Tropical Island and/or Amazonian plants would be particularly advantageous.
