Grade 05S: Salary £21,681 - £25,888 (excluding overtime)

The University of Oxford Botanic Garden is the oldest in Britain and it contains the most botanically diverse yet compact collection of plants in the United Kingdom. This collection is used for teaching with both the formal and informal education systems. The Garden has a developing plant conservation programme. In addition to these roles the Garden is a major amenity in the City of Oxford and is an important part of this Country’s heritage.

We are looking for a Senior Glasshouse Horticulturist with a Botanic Garden Diploma, ND, HND or B.Sc. in horticulture or a subject relevant to the collections of the University of Oxford Botanic Garden. Certification in the safe use of pesticides is essential. Key skills will entail experience of working in a collection-based glasshouse and management of staff in a botanic garden or a garden open to the public, the ability to deliver the Garden’s education programme to school children and to the public, the ability to explain horticultural procedures to trainees with diverse backgrounds and the ability to prioritise horticultural tasks and allocate staff accordingly and working alongside a team of 2 other horticulturists.
